Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Lekki, in collaboration with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP) and the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), is pleased to introduce the Parish Prison Apostolate and Charity Home Visits as part of our Lenten outreach.
During this sacred season of Lent, the parish will organize a visit to a correctional facility as well as a charity outreach to a motherless babies’ home in Lagos.
The prison visit is an expression of the Church’s mission to bring hope, compassion, and the message of Christ’s mercy to those who are incarcerated. As Catholics, we are reminded that every person is created in the image and likeness of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless of their past actions. Through prayer, fellowship, and acts of charity, we seek to share Christ’s love with those who may feel forgotten or isolated.
In addition, the parish will carry out a charity visit to a motherless babies’ home, providing support and encouragement to children who are in need of care and love. This outreach reflects our commitment to serving the vulnerable in our society and responding to the Gospel call to care for those most in need.
As our Lord reminds us in Matthew 25:40:
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
The Prison Visit will be on the 21st of March, 2026, to the Kirikiri Correctional Center, Lagos.
We welcome you to our community church where Christ reigns supreme in all we do. We are a family of believers coming together to praise God in His Word and sacrament. As you join us to worship you are indeed welcome. Thanks and God bless.
